Nervous Cop, avant supergroup, to release debut
9 October 2003

Last year, drummer Zach Hill from Sacramento avant-spaz duo Hella teamed up with drummer Greg Saunier from San Francisco dadaists Deerhoof for a project they’ve dubbed Nervous Cop. They invited harpist/composer/vocalist Joannna Newsom of The Please to sit in—over the past year the 21 year old has been invited on tours by Bonnie 'Prince' Billy (Will Oldham) and Cat Power (Chan Marshall).
The players themselves describe the result as 'a surrealistic masterpiece of musique concrète' (Zach) and 'a total disaster' (Greg).
Nervous Cop’s self-titled debut album comes out the first week of November on the 5 Rue Christine imprint.
Hella continue a US tour on Friday at the Crocodile Cafe in Seattle, while Deerhoof play tonight at Slim’s in San Francisco with Japan’s Shonen Knife. | Nervous Cop on Kill Rock Stars | | Deerhoof | | Hella  | | Joanna Newsom | | Joanna Newsom interview on SFburning.com | | CD (pre-order) from Amazon.com | | top of page |
