The Goethe Institute, based in Munich and Bonn and with 142 institutes in 77 countries, provides information to the world on German culture. They have selected two innnovative Berlin-based artists, Barbara Morgenstern and Maximilian Hecker, to represent contemporary German music for a five month world tour titled Neue Musik Aus Berlin (New Music From Berlin) starting 15 October.
Experimental dance/pop composer Morgenstern released her first EP Enter The Partyzone six years ago, and since then has released three albums, the latest titled Nichts Muss on Monika/Labels. Her website offers streams of most of her songs along with several MP3s. Pop innovator Hecker’s debut, Infinite Love Songs, came out in 2001, and his follow up, Rose, came out for Europe this past spring.
The tour begins next Wednesday in Berlin and runs through mid-April 2004 with stops in North and South America, Europe, Asia, and Australia.
