Mower release new single, stage UK tour
7 May 2003

Up and coming UK trio Mower got together at a London college five years ago. But following the recording sessions for their self-titled debut LP in 2001, the band disintegrated, leaving founder Matt Motte to tour on his own and then recruit new players.
The current lineup go by the names Nash Mower (who the British press has dubbed the coolest female teen bass player since Suzi Quattro) and John Mower (on drums), while songwriter/front man Matt becomes Matt Mower.
Mower are sort of a Pixies-meet-Beatles, Lemonheads-meet-Kinks, high energy pop project. Their new single After Dark (released for the UK two days ago) was record of the week on BBC Radio’s Mark And Lard show at the end of April.
The band are now on a 19 date UK tour which runs through the end of the month. Their second album, produced by Stephen Street, comes out later this year on Transcopic—the label owned by Blur guitarist Graham Coxon. In June, Mower will support Australian band Jet on their UK tour.
