Gravy Train!!!! post US west coast dates
24 March 2003

Oakland, California new-wave/shock/porn/humor quartet Gravy Train!!!! have just released their debut full-length on Kill Rock Stars, titled Hello Doctor. It follows their recent Menz EP, and some compilation appearances in the US and the UK.
(Yes, all four exclamation points in their name are theirs. Besides the 'cute' factor, the punctuation distinguishes the band from the British metal trio of the same name from the ’70s—in the era of Budgie, Uriah Heep, and Wishbone Ash. So much for ironic trivia, and now back to our regularly scheduled rock bite...)
Gravy Train!!!! is a sort of self-aware, lesbian-punks-gone-wild good time, whose members (“three hags and a fag,” says gay rag the San Francisco Bay Guardian) call themselves Chunx, Drunx, Funx, and Hunx (the guy). On EP track Sippin’ 40z—a charming ditty about getting wasted on 40 oz malt liquors and having fetish sex with high schoolers—Chunx sings “I go to the high school/ to find me a bitch/ a young virgin switch/ then I go to the high school/ I find a young gun/ I drench him in come/ I go to the high school/ make him kiss my gash/ Then I fuck his tight ass.”
The band are set for seven US west coast dates starting 5 April.

April
5 - Albany, CA (the ivy room w/ the lovemakers, 21+)
12 - San Francisco, CA (the hemlock tavern) with Experimental Dental School, 21+
