20 January 2003

Twenty-one year old, currently-Chicago-based guitarist Guy Blakeslee aka Entrance has been packing clubs in the US northeast. His fans include Billy Corgan’s super-quintet Zwan, who have been setting him up with gigs at Chicago honky-tonk The Hideout.
The former bassist for Baltimore loud-rock trio The Convocation Of..., Entrance will release his debut solo album on 4 March for the US on Tiger Style records, titled The Kingdom of Heaven Must Be Taken By Storm.
Reviewers have compared Entrance’s live solo work (instrumentation: a guitar along with a three-octave vocal range) to Led Zeppelin, T-Rex, John Fahey, and Mississippi blues legend Skip James. He’s on tour now in the US with extraordinary 21-year-old, New York based singer/songwriter Devendra Banhart. Entrance will continue this spring on another US tour opening for Chan Marshall aka Cat Power. | Entrance on Tiger Style | | top of page |
