13 January 2003

Arizona country-mariachi-space rock act Calexico are soon to release their first proper full length album, apart from tour CDs, since 2000’s Hot Rail. Berlin-based City Slang—their European label—has posted an MP3 preview for free download. It’s a cover version of French singer Françoiz Breut’s 2001 song Si Tu Disais (English: If You Said), redone with pedal steel and horns.
Calexico (Joey Burns and John Convertino) have toured with Breut, and played on her LP Vignt A Trente Mille Jours. According to City Slang, Calexico and Breut are huge fans of each other. Check the label’s 'MP3 Club' for the download, available through January.
The new Calexico album will be titled Feast Of Wire and comes out in early February for North America (on Quarterstick) and Europe. | Calexico | | City Slang records | | top of page |
