Sundance winner features indie soundtrack 3 February 2003 Writer/director David Gordon Green enlisted his old University of Texas roommate David Wingo and Austin musician Michael Linnen (Pilot Ships) to compose the score—the same pair who scored Green’s award-winning 2000 film George Washington (you can find that film’s soundtrack on Emperor Jones records). Keeping it in the family for All The Real Girls, Green again invited Denton, Texas spacerockers Mazinga Phaser (a song of whose appeared on George Washington) to contribute some music. Their drummer, Mike Throneberry, was a high school buddy of Green’s. Other artists on the new soundtrack, most hand-picked by Green, are Will Oldham, Labradford, Paul Jones, Dynamite Brothers, Mogwai, The Promise Ring, Isaac Freeman, Pyramid, Mark Olson And The Creekdippers, Utah Carol, Miranda Lee Richards, Explosions In The Sky, and Sparklehorse. All The Real Girls, starring Paul Schneider IV (as Paul) and Zooey Deschanel (as Noel), opens on Valentines day in Los Angeles and New York city, with general release later this year. Sanctuary/Combusion Music will release the soundtrack album this year. | All The Real Girls | | trailer (QuickTime) | | top of page | |
