Artist registration underway for MidPoint Music Festival
17 February 2003

With competition from Austin, San Francisco, Chicago, Seattle, Olympia, and New York—not to mention a declining urban economy—Cincinnati, in southwestern Ohio, USA, had a hard time getting an alternative music festival going. Until last year, anyway, when organizers Sean Rhiney and Bill Donabedian got behind the first annual MidPoint Music Festival. The event was so successful that the Mayor and economic analysts took note, citing it as a force that may help invigorate the city’s artistic identity and economic health.
MidPoint takes place—as does South By Southwest, Noise Pop, and CMJ—across a number of venues. Coming out of nowhere the event attracted more than 150 artists, about a third of them local, to perform over the course of a three-day weekend last fall.
As of a couple of weeks ago, Rhiney and Donabedian have started reviewing artist applications for the second annual MidPoint festival, which takes place 23-27 September 2003. If you or your band want to perform, check out their online registration (link below) or ask for more information at info@mpmf.com. | MidPoint Music Festival | | top of page |
