Seascapes Of The Interior release hand-made debut CD
30 April 2003

It has been a long time coming, but Australian dream rockers Seascapes Of The Interior have now released their debut album titled All Safe, All Well. The title and the musical themes on the disc refer to the rescue of legendary British explorer Sir Ernest Shackleton and his crew during their 1915 Antarctica expedition. You can hear some recently-posted MP3 samples on the band’s Website.
SOTI assembled the new album from sessions in various locations around Australia over the past four years. It includes tracks recorded in a school auditorium in the middle of Otways native rain forest in Victoria and four-track home tapes. Interspersed are field samples recorded by members of the band, and some archival aboriginal recordings.
Not only self-released, the limited-edition All Safe, All Well comes in hand-made packaging where even the paper is made by the band. As of this writing, they’ve sold about a third of the 500 total CDs and will not make more.
SOTI began back in 1997 and settled on their current lineup a couple of years later, which is Shani (guitars), Adam (guitar, e-bow, vocals), Wayne (drums, percussion), Kirsten (vocals, keyboards, trumpet, piano), Matt (bass, synths), Phil (violin, vocals), and David (images and projections).
You can order the disc directly from the band’s site. We expect to bring you a review in a few weeks. | Seascapes Of The Interior | | SOTI on MP3.com | | Shackelton | | top of page |
