14 May 2002

23 year old German programmer, graphics artist, and composer Jens Döring has partnered with Austrian electronica legend Hans Platzgumer (also in H.P. Zinker and numerous other projects, and previously in Die Goldenen Zitronen) to form his computer-based band Shift.
Döring is self-releasing Shift’s debut album, with ordering information available by email (check our link).
To get a (generous) taste you can download five full-length MP3 files from Döring’s Website, as well as another track from Berlin’s City Slang Records—who are offering it for the month of May only through their free MP3 club.
Meanwhile, Hans Platzgumer is busy performing in Europe and releasing albums, including the forthcoming second album by Queen Of Japan (Koneko, Jo Ashito, and Jason Arigato). QOJ do electro-disco interpretations of dance and rock classics. Their next LP, Head Rush, is due next month. More info on Platzgumer’s site. | Shift | | City Slang Records | | Shift LP ordering info | | Hans Platzgumer | | top of page |
