10 May 2002

San Francisco no-wave-disco-punk trio Numbers (Eric Landmark and Dave Brocoma, ex Xerobot, who moved from Madison, Wisconsin to the Bay Area along with Numbers bandmate Indra) began a major US tour at the beginning of the month with some west coast dates. They continue tonight in Minneapolis, then navigate all around the country through a homecoming closer on 1 June at San Francisco’s El Rio club. They’ll play all shows with Coach Whips, aka John Dwyer of noise punk duo Pink And Brown, opening.
Numbers have two new releases out this month: a split 12" EP with Archigramophone label mates Emergency—a bay area avant-noise quartet that are breaking up on 29 June (so they say on their Website); and their debut album, Life, out soon on Tigerbeat6.
Numbers also have a track on the recent Tigerbeat6 complilation CD, And The Beat Goes Off, available for $2 from the label. Other bands on the comp include (among many others) Kid 606, Cex, Blectum From Blechdom, and Stars As Eyes.
