Guided By Voices return to Matador for new album

Dayton, Ohio psychedelic pop icons Guided By Voices have just announced their return to NYC indie Matador Records for the release of their forthcoming album Universal Truths and Cycles, due worldwide on 18 June. The band recorded and self-produced the 19 song/46 minute set from November through January, having amicably parted with TVT Records.
GBV were last in the Matador stable from 1995 through ’98, during which time they put out three albums. Front man/singer-songwriter Robert Pollard said about his new contract “It’s great to be reunited with our good friends at Matador, fellow rock geeks with the same basic philosophy on record artistry. We are very happy getting back to autonomously making records ourselves and have the ball back in our court.”
Matador says the new record will be the band’s most varied, ranging from lo-fi guitar + voice to full blown rock productions. Expect a review here in June. Meanwhile, if you live in the US midwest or east you can catch the band on tour next month. Check their Website for specifics. | Guided By Voices | | Matador Records | | bio | | discography | | top of page |
