Mellow to release second album this spring
15 March 2002

French electronica-pop trio Mellow are about to release the original soundtrack they composed for Roman Coppola’s 2001 film CQ. It’s due on Emperor Norton records around the time the film hits the US feature circuit, late May.
CQ premiered at Cannes last year and has been making its US debut this month at three screenings at Austin’s South By Southwest festival—the last one’s tonight.
CQ, set in 1969, is a film within a film about an American hired to Paris to rescue a sci-fi B-movie whose production is on the rocks. It’s Coppola’s first feature, and follows his work on music videos for (among others) Fatboy Slim, Moby, and The Strokes.
CQ, the album, is Mellow’s first product since their debut EP/mini-album—which appeared in three versions over a span of two years, one each for France, the UK, and the US. The band have been recording and expect to release their first studio album proper (or their third album if you count it that way) sometime in 2002. | Mellow on Cyberoctave | | Interview with Mellow about CQ, from Allocine (in French) | | Mellow debut review on Rockbites | | Mellow MP3s on Epitonic | | bio | | discography | | top of page |
