Roskilde named worlds safest rock festival 15 March 2002 CMS conferred the titles in their 10th annual Rock Concert Safety Survey (check our link), which chronicles rock safety events and issues worldwide. The survey includes, for the first time, a section on antiterrorist considerations for rock concerts. Last April, Taliban-trained terrorists bombed a concert in Dhaka, Bangladesh, killing 11 and wounding 50 others. Police prevented two other bombs from killing concertgoers, although one officer died in the operation. The report also mentions the confiscation of four bombs from concertgoers headed to a Washington state Ozzfest concert last June, and provides a summary of recommended counter-terrorism measures for rock venues. This years Roskilde festival takes place 27-30 June in Roskilde, Denmark. Early band confirmations include Anti-Pop Consortium (US), The Chemical Brothers (UK), Garbage (US), Him (Finland), Kaizers Orchestra (Norway), Saybia (Denmark), and Spiritualized (UK). | Roskilde festival | | Crowd Management Strategies | | Rock Concert Safety Survey 2001 (PDF) | | top of page | |
