Giant Sand set US & Canada tour for covers album

Tuscon, Arizona’s Giant Sand (Joey Burns and John Convertino, of Calexico, plus main man Howe Gelb) are set to tour the US and Canada for their new mostly-covers album titled Cover Magazine. It’s due 19 March for the US on Thrill Jockey, and includes songs by (among others) Black Sabbath, Sonny Bono, Johnny Cash, John Doe & Excene Cervenka of X, PJ Harvey, and Neil Young.
    The band recorded the set over the past year or so, mostly at their own Wavelab studio in Tuscon—but they tracked a few songs in Norway and Belgium while on tour. Among the 19 (!) guest artists who contributed, a few notables include Neko Case, PJ Harvey, Nick Luca, and Ari Posner.
