Hamburg, Germany ’70s experimentalists Faust, who, along with Can, Kraftwerk, and Neu!, defined Krautrock and motivated all that is known today under the very large techno umbrella, have released a 30th anniversary remixes album featuring many of the artists they’ve inspired over the years.
Titled Freispiel, the disc came out Friday for Germany, today for the UK, and hits US stores a week from tomorrow. It is a remix/re-make of selections from Faust’s 1999 album Ravvivando (English: reviving, quickening pace) featuring interpretations by, among others, Dead Voices On Air, Funkstörung, Gel (Dave Ball from Softcell plus Ingo Vauk), Kreidler, The Residents, and Sunroof (Mute Records president Daniel Miller, ex The Normal; plus producer/engineer Gareth Jones, who’s worked with many bands including Depeche Mode, Clinic, Nick Cave, Moby, and Kreidler).
Tracks on the CD version of the album are

  1. T'electronique (Matthias Schaffhauser remix)
  2. Wir brauchen dich (Dave Ball & Ingo Vauk remix)
  3. T'electronique/Apocalypse (Sofa Surfers meltdown)
  4. DIg (Surgeon remix)
  5. Du weisst schon (Funkstorung remix)
  6. DIg (Kreidler remix)
  7. Carousel II (Adriano Lanzi & Omar Sodano remix)
  8. Carousel II (Trillian remix)
  9. Four + seven means 11 (Howie B remix)
10. Carousel II (Sunroof remix)
11. T'electronique (Residents remix)
12. Four + seven means 11 (Dax & Pieper remix)
13. Du weisst schon (Dead Voices On Air remix)
