Dischord sets new date for 20th anniversary album
28 June 2002

Dischord Records, perhaps best known for its founder Ian MacKaye’s band Fugazi, has published work by dozens of artists since forming in the summer of 1980, with a $600 initial investment, to release a record by MacKaye’s high school band, The Teen Idles. The label thrived and has managed to bring two decades of underground music to the world without ever using a formal contract with a band.
Last summer they announced a 20th anniversary compilation album that saw delay upon delay and eventually seemed to slip off the radar. But Dischord has now revealed a new release date of 23 September for Europe and 7 October for the US.
20 Years Of Dischord will comprise two music CDs plus a bonus disc of previously unreleased material along with very early video footage of The Untouchables, The Teen Idles, SOA, Faith, Void, and Deadline.
The music CDs will feature one track each from every band which has appeared on the label. Dischord will post a Web page soon with a detailed track listing. | Dischord Records | | top of page |
