Neo-psychedelic godfathers The Soft Boys, led by singer/songwriter Robyn Hitchcock, formed in the mid ’70s in Cambridge, England and established an extraordinarily devoted cult following on both sides of the Atlantic despite criminal media neglect.
They reunited for a second time in late 2000 to record a cover of Paul McCartney’s Let Me Roll It for the 16-track breast-cancer benefit album Listen To What The Man Said.
They then toured extensively last year, and released a deluxe reissue of their most popular album, Underwater Moonlight.
Over the past several months the band tracked a full album’s worth of new songs with longtime associate and producer Pat Collier (Angelic Upstarts, Modern English, Primal Scream, The Vibrators), to be available 24 September on Matador Records for the US and titled Nextdoorland.
Meanwhile, Robyn Hitchcock in April released a double CD of Bob Dylan covers called simply Robyn Sings. You can pick it up from his Website.
The Soft Boys just finished a tour of Sweden and Norway, and will play a few dates in Canada next month. Check the Robyn Hitchcock site for details. | The Soft Boys on Matador | | Robyn Hitchcock | | Robyn Sings CD from his site | | bio | | discography | | CD | | top of page |
