First 3 Go-Betweens records to get CD reissue next month

New York’s Jetset Records, US home to Luna, Tram, Death By Chocolate, and Arab Strap, has revealed that it will this year reissue deluxe editions of the first three records by ’70s into ’80s Brisbane, Australian outsider-pop band The Go-Betweens.
    The albums—Send Me A Lullaby, Before Hollywood, and Spring Hill Fair—will each appear as a double CD: the original album plus a bonus disc of previously unreleased material from the same time period along with a QuickTime video. Each album will feature the original artwork along with expanded liner notes and an essay.
    Go-Betweens founders Robert Forster and Grant McLennan, who pursued solo careers following the band’s breakup in 1989, remained in touch and played together now and then. Last year they re-formed the band and, along with several friends including Elliott Smith, all of Sleater-Kinney, and most of Quasi, released the first Go-Betweens record in 12 years: The Friends Of Rachel Worth.
    All three double-discs hit US stores on 9 July. Looking forward, The Go-Betweens will be recording a new studio album in September in Australia, with release tentatively slated for early 2003.
