Electroclash 2002 festival may include US tour 19 July 2002 Electroclash, a name catchier than it is descriptive, refers to a post-rave electronic movement thriving now in and around New York and other cities including Montréal, London, and Berlin, and which describes acts who breathe fresh social iconoclasm and aggresive sexuality into sounds from twenty or more years agoborrowing heavily from the likes of Fad Gadget, Lords Of Acid, The Flying Lizards, and Einsturzende Neubaten. Other bands very likely to appear at Electroclash 2002 are Peaches, aka Merrill Nisker (from Toronto but now based in Berlin), female trio Whatever It Takes (from Brooklyn), and electronica duo/multimedia collective FischerSpooner (based in NYC). Beyond the festival, plans are starting to come together for a first-ever Electroclash US tour for later this year. Bands likely to sign up include Chicks On Speed, Peaches, and Whatever It Takes. | Electroclash 2002 (not available as of press time) | | interview with Larry Tee from New York magazine | | Chicks On Speed | | top of page | |
