King Crimson reissues set for September
15 July 2002

Prog/experimental rock legends King Crimson, a major contributor to the 25 year rock revolution, 1955 to 1980, are now well into their fourth decade as a band. In September they’ll reissue two live albums from the ’70s: Earthbound and USA.
Earthbound was Crimson’s first ever live album and was released in 1972 to commemorate what was to have been their farewell tour. The lineup included Robert Fripp, Boz Burrell, Mel Collins, and Ian Wallace. The forthcoming release will be the album’s first appearance on CD.
The band released USA, another live album, in 1976—after they’d broken up and before re-forming for the first time in 1981. The material had been available in bootleg form, taped from live FM broadcasts. The bootlegs’ popularity prompted the band to release the recordings themselves and in higher quality form.
Like Earthbound, USA has never before appeared on CD. The new edition includes three tracks not on the vinyl edition. The touring lineup for USA included Robert Fripp, John Wetton, David Cross and Bill Bruford.
Both discs come out first in limited-edition cardboard sleeves on 3 September, and then in the standard jewel-case package on 17 September. They’ll be on Fripp’s Digital Global Mobile imprint, with pre-ordering starting mid August. | King Crimson on DGM | | fan site | | discography | | top of page |
