Former Helium front woman and The Spells member (with Sleater-Kinney’s Carrie Brownstein) Mary Timony on 30 April recorded some songs for French radio program Planet-Claire. Four of those songs are now posted in MP3 format for free download from the Planet-Claire Website (check our link): Tiger Rising, The Mirror, Blood Tree, and The Outlandish Night.
    Timony has two solo albums out, the dreamy Mountains, released March 2000, and The Golden Dove, released in May this year. She’s been active with the Ladyfest feminist-festival series and will play next month at the first-ever Washington, DC Ladyfest.
    In late 2000 Timony revealed that Helium were back together and writing songs—but nothing has come of it to date; the potential for a reunion remains but is on hold.
    Timony, though, has been touring solo this year for her new album, playing across the US except for the south in June. She hits the road again on the 25th for seven southern US dates:
