Atlanta, Georgia breakbeat/electronica/hip-hop artist/producer Prefuse73 (Scott Herren) has been very busy over the past year. Soon after joining the Warp Records roster (among his peers are Squarepusher, Aphex Twin, Anti-Pop Consortium, and Vincent Gallo) and releasing his debut album this past summer, he launched his own Atlanta-based label called Eastern Developments. He’s already signed Ammoncontact, Dabrye, Hu Vibrational, The Leblase Import System, Ryan Rasheed, and Lori Scacco.
Herren also just finished producing a Mos Def/Diverse single, and collaborated on a soon-to-be-released track by Cibo Matto.
On 18 January, Prefuse73 play opening night of the 10-day, first annual AFM/International Independent Film Festival in Istanbul, Turkey. The festival, also known as Ifistanbul, will screen about three dozen avant-garde and extreme films from around the world.
Warp expects to release a second Prefuse73 album sometime this year. | Prefuse73 on Warp | | Eastern Developments | | IfInstanbul film fest | | CD from Amazon US | | discography | | top of page |
