V2 posts audio/video preview of low-cost compilation
4 January 2002

International indie label V2 Music will release this month for the UK a compilation LP featuring 16 artists from their active roster, all mixed and blended by Mercury Prize nominated producer/composer/musician Nitin Sawhney. Titled Essenchill, the album is set for a 21 January street date.
You can listen to full length previews in Windows Media format now thanks to a nice little Web page set up by V2—check our link. On it you’ll find audio from Abraham, Ben Christophers, Elbow, Alex Gopher, Grandaddy, The High Llamas, Jungle Brothers, Mandalay, Aimee Mann, Mercury Rev, Ninety-9, Heather Nova, Ian Pooley, Rinôçérôse, Nitin Sawhney, and Underworld.
You’ll also find full length videos (variously in QuickTime, Windows Media, and RealVideo) from eight of the Essenchill artists—including Mercury Rev’s clip for Dark Is Rising.
V2 says the comp will go for £4 (US$5.78), but Amazon UK is asking £4.99. Still quite a bargain...
