Kyle Fischer of Rainer Maria readies solo debut
4 January 2002
image
In the midst of a year of touring that saw close to 200 shows supporting Rainer Maria’s third album, A Better Version Of Me, Caithlin De Marrais (vocals and bass) and Kyle Fischer (guitar, vocals) managed to record another full length in 2001. They did it without William Kuehn, their drummer, enlisting instead Mike Kinsell of American Football, Owen, and Owls. Oh, and they’re not calling it a Rainer Maria album, but rather Kyle Fischer’s solo debut. Appropriate, since he wrote most of the songs. The title is Open Ground.
The new set appears 5 February on Polyvinyl Records (or perhaps two weeks earlier on 22 January, as Amazon.com says). Tracks will be Headphones, Should Your Way Ever Need Finding Back, Too Soon To Know, The Noon Day Song, Just One More Day, Christopher Isherwood, Continental Drift, The Slow Drag, Twice, Temple TX, and Kissing Cabernet. | Rainer Maria | | Polyvinyl Records | | Open Ground CD from Amazon US | | discography | | top of page |
