Luna finish recording B-sides for comeback LP
29 January 2002

As you might have read here last month, Dean Wareham’s country-tinged rock band Luna have signed to New York’s Jetset records for a new album. To be titled Romantica and released in April, it will be their first full-length in three years and features a new lineup of which Wareham (founder of Galaxie 500) is the only original member. Others in the new band are longtime member Sean Eden (Kramer, Muttongun, Dogbowl, The Weeds of Eden) along with Lee Wall (The Weeds of Eden) and Britta Phillips (ex Belltower, Ultrababyfat).
Dave Fridman (Mogwai, The Flaming Lips) mixed the very strong 12 track set—we’ll bring you a review in early April—who’s songs are Lovedust, Weird And Woozy, Black Postcards, Black Champagne, Swedish Fish, Renée Is Crying, Mermaid Eyes, 1995, Rememories, Dizzy, Orange Peel, and Romantica.
The band were in the studio earlier this month recording B-sides to forthcoming singles and EPs. Those tracks include three covers: Waiting on A Friend (The Rolling Stones), Only Women Bleed (Alice Cooper), and Dancing Days (Led Zeppelin)—as Wareham writes on the band’s Website, “Be afraid!” | Luna | | Jetset Records | | discography | | top of page |
