22 January 2002

York, England leftfield/hip-hop trio New Flesh (previously New Flesh For Old) release their second album next week on London indie Big Dada, a sub-imprint of Ninjatune. Titled Understanding, the 13-track set follows their debut Equilibrium by more than two years.
On Understanding, Toastie Tailor, Juice Aleem, and Part 2 are joined by Beans from Anti-Pop Consortium, Gift Of Gab from Blackalicious, Robotic E.B.U. from Gamma, Roots Manuva, Ramm:Ell:Zee, and others. The outcome is an album that looks back in time as well as forward, with references to soul, R&B, reggae, dancehall, and calypso/soca. No announcements to relay regarding a possible US release, but Stateside fans can pick up the disk next week through Amazon UK. | New Flesh | | New Flesh on Big Dada | | CD from Amazon UK | | bio | | discography | | top of page |
