The Telescopes return with first LP in nine years
6 February 2002

Singer/composer Stephen Lawrie’s Burton-upon-Trent spacecore vehicle The Telescopes re-formed in 2001 after a six year hiatus and nine years on from their last studio album. They have now revealed that the third Telescopes LP, titled Third Wave, is due in April for the US and the UK on Cambridge, Massachussetts indie label Double Agent.
Between the last Telescopes album and now, Lawrie put together Unisex, who played live on and off for half a dozen years and released one album in the fall of 2000. Guitarist/vocalist Joanna Doran was in Unisex, and is the only original Telescopes member (apart from Lawrie) also in the new band.
The Telescopes next gig will be a short acoustic set at Jumbo Records in Leeds, UK on 23 February, where they plan to play selections from their back catalog including Splashdown, And Let Me Drift Away, The Perfect Needle, and Flying. | The Telescopes on Double Agent | | Double Agent Records | | Fan site | | Extensive discography | | top of page |
