Sunstorm sign to Rough Trade for second EP
6 February 2002
image
Los Angeles retro-psychedelic four piece Sunstorm (Jerrold Balcom—guitar & vocals, Blake Jordan—piano, Thien Tan Doan—bass, Roger Brogan—drums) formed in 1999, and, going by their Capital Crimes MP3 (check our link), are yet another new band walking in the footsteps of The Telescopes (see our recent review of The Stratford 4).
Reviewers have also compared Sunstorm to The Verve, The Rolling Stones, and The Velvet Undergound. But we wouldn’t be telling you about Sunstorm if they weren’t a rather interesting and new synthesis of such well-worn components.
Sunstorm have just signed with London’s Rough Trade Records and will put out their proper debut, a three-track EP titled Comeonhigher, this April simultaneously in the US and the UK. It follows their self-released seven-track High Resolution EP, available since last summer direct from the band’s Website. | Sunstorm | | Rough Trade Records | | Capital Crimes (full length MP3) | | Interview on Vendetta | | top of page |
