Imperial Teen sign to Merge for April album

Los Angeles got-a-clue pop quartet Imperial Teen are keeping up their yes-we-have-lives sorta pace of one album every three years with a new full-length due 9 April. It will appear on Chapel Hill, North Carolina’s Merge Records (Superchunk, The 6ths, And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead), who recently signed the band.
    IT were one among hundreds of bands left in the cold following the major label mega-consolidation frenzy of 1999, and say they are now very pleased to be with Merge (“We couldn’t be happier!”).
    The band (Roddy Bottum, Lynn Perko, Jone Stebbins, and Will Schwartz—all multi-instrumentalists) produced the new LP, titled On, in LA together with newlyweds Steve MacDonald (Redd Kross) and Anna Waronker (That Dog). On follows 1999’s What Is Not To Love and 1996’s Seasick.
    There are a few Imperial Teen shows on tap, starting next month at San Francisco’s Noise Pop festival and Austin’s SXSW festival. And they are
