Piehead experimental-music subscription series goes live
26 February 2002

Toronto based Piehead Records is a new project from Greg Clow and Sheryl Kirby, who’ve been at the forefront of the Toronto experimental music scene for nearly six years. The pair produce live shows through their Stained Productions, while Clow continues to host his weekly radio show Feedback Monitor on CIUT 89.5 FM, available on the Internet as well (check our link).
Last week, with a minor reshuffling of dates and artists, Piehead began accepting orders for their limited edition inaugural subscription series. It includes 11 full length albums—on CDR with on-disc printing and color inserts—released one per month through the end of 2002. Only 250 copies of each disc will be available for sale. Subscribers also get a special 12th disc in December featuring exclusive, previously unreleased tracks by each of the series artists.
Slated to appear on the Piehead CDRs are ARC (improvisational guitar/electronic trio) along with Aidan Baker, Hellothisisalex (analog techno from rural Ontario), David Kristian (Montréal electronica composer), I8U (Montréal minimalists), Multiplex (UK/Canada duo playing IDM), Your Favorite Horse (aka Accelera Deck), Vague Terrain Recordings (SF duo under an alias for contract reasons), Naw (dub experimentalist), I Am Robot And Proud (video game pop), Andrew Duke (Halifax Nova Scotia experimental producer), and V/Vm (Manchester noise act). Check out the Piehead Records site for more information including links to the bands’ Websites. | Piehead Records | | CIUT FM | | Stained Productions | | top of page |
