San Francisco singer/songwriter/studio owner John Vanderslice launched a month long US tour Tuesday night at his home town’s Bottom Of The Hill club, playing with his new four piece band and previewing songs from his forthcoming third album.
To be titled Life And Death Of An American Four Tracker, the new set comes out 7 May on Seattle’s Barsuk Records. It follows Vanderslice’s critically acclaimed 2001 release Time Travel Is Lonely, and his 2000 debut Mass Suicide Occult Figurines.
Vanderslice worked closely with engineer/bass player/keyboards player Scott Solter (of Tarentel) on the new record. Solter is in Vanderslice’s remarkable current touring band, along with guitarist/vocalist Ben Barnett (of Kind Of Like Spitting) and drummer Christopher McGuire (of Kid Dakota).
On Tuesday night in San Francisco it was evident that the band are well rehearsed on the new songs, super tight, and hot to get on the road. They’ll hit 18 states over the next 30 days (check our link), and will tour again around the time of the new album release. | John Vanderslice | | tour dates | | I Miss The War-live (full length MP3) | | discography | | top of page |
