2 August 2002

Greek-born, London based 20-something producer/mixer/multi-instrumentalist Andy Dragazis releases his second downtempo/chill album under the moniker Blue States on 19 August for the UK, titled Man Mountain. It will get a US release next month.
The 12 song set follows by two years his debut Nothing Changes Under The Sun, an LP for which Blue States won widespread critical adoration and a fiercely enthusiastic fan base. Man Mountain, which features a children’s choir, a brass section, and vocals by Ty Blumer, promises to help establish Dragazis as one of the more important young musicians in the UK today.
The first single from the LP, out this past Monday, is the track Metro Sound along with a stunning remix by Four Tet (Kieran Hebden)—check our link for a RealAudio stream. LP track The Interceptors rounds out the new single.
Blue States were the first signing to the London-based Memphis Industries label back in 1998, and caught the attention of Washington, DC’s Thievery Corporation and the Eighteenth Street Lounge Music imprint for a US release of his first LP last year. The new album will be a co-release of Memphis along with XL Recordings (Badly Drawn Boy, Basement Jaxx, Super Furry Animals, Lemon Jelly).
Tracks on the forthcoming Man Mountain are Metro Sound, What We’ve Won, Colouration, Only Today, Studio 20, Bare Bones, Season Song, Man Mountain, The Winfield Audition, Doublespeak, Halfway Highway, and Adrift. | Blue States | | XL Recordings | | Metro Sound (remix - RealAudio stream) | | CD from Amazon UK | | top of page |
