Stephin Merritt side project to stage fourth performance 15 August 2002 T3T include Merritt along with Dudley Klute of Kid Montana and LD Beghtol of Flare and Moth Wranglers, plus guests. They have performed once each year, and only in New York city, since debuting in February of 1999 at The Tonic. Their upcoming show will take place 15 September at The Bowery Ballroom, with tickets available now (check our link). Every T3T show has a theme, this one being 'The Three TerrorsTheir 1885 Transploding Styrofoam Holo-Graphic OctopusSongs of Drink, Drugs & Delirium.' For those of you on drugs at the moment, that means radical and light-hearted interpretations of songs through the ages about intoxication. Opening will be Susannah with her Oriental Danse show. As always, Merritt has many irons in the fire. In February his Magnetic Fields project signed with the prestigious Nonesuch label for that bands first album since 1999s 69 Love Songs. Nonesuch has slated the new, not-yet-titled Magnetic Fields album for a fall 2002 release. Last month Merritt released a new track by The Gothic Archies on a compilation titled Survive And Advance, available from his longtime label, Merge Records. Hes composing an opera, and along with author/keyboardist/accordian player Daniel Handler is writing a screenplay. Merritt is also collaborating with Handlerwho writes dark childrens novels under the name Lemony Snicketto record a new Gothic Archies album with one song for each of Handlers 'A Series Of Unfortunate Events' books.
