Oxford, England avant-pop quartet Cody (Joe Boulter - vocals, keyboards, programming; Steve Jefferis - guitars and visuals; John Johnson - guitars and vocals; and Chris Tighe - keyboards)—who describe their sound as “mixing electronica, linear euro-house, post-rock guitar distress, and the purest swoon-pop” release next week for the UK their first disc in two years, a single titled Uplift. They assembled the track mostly by email, and never face to face, strewn as they were among Oxford, Newcastle, Weston-Super-Mare, and northern Italy.
The other two tracks on the Uplift single won’t appear on the album. They are Flexibility and Aquaplaner. Check our link for a full length MP3 download of an alternate, online-only version of Aquaplaner.
On 3 June, Cody release their second album, Distance Learning. The single and the LP are on London’s Shinkansen records, and are available directly from the label Website and from better shops online and elsewhere.
Tracks on the forthcoming Distance Learning LP are Uplift, Share and Enjoy, Bolero And Cipher, Cooperativa, Dorian, Evening Falls, Oscillator, A Single Thread, In Our Own Time, Ripples Run Forever, and Sentinels. | Cody | | Shinkansen mailorder | | Uplift (MP3 excerpt) | | Aquaplaner - alternate version (full length MP3) | | top of page |
