Mogwai to release 20 minute single, LP reissues
7 September 2001

Scottish experimental rockers Mogwai recorded a version of the Jewish hymn My Father, My King in late 1999 for inclusion on a still not released project album by producer Arthur Baker (Black Uhuru, Al Green, Afrika Bambaata, Joy Division). They’ve since played the song live, including closing their set with it on 26 August at last month’s Leeds Carling Weekend festival.
Now Mogwai have finished recording a new version of My Father, My King. This one is produced by Steve Albini (Pixies, Slint, Rapeman, Low) and runs 20 minutes in length. Play It Again Sam (PIAS) will release it 22 October for the UK as a one track single CD, but the duration makes it ineligible for the UK single charts.
Also due next month from Mogwai are some reissues. Their remixes album Kicking A Dead Pig, previously (and still) available from Jetset records in the US, comes out for the UK on Chemikal Underground on 1 October. It will feature a bonus CD with remixes from μziq and from Kevin Shields (ex My Bloody Valentine). Also out 1 October on Chemikal Underground is a disc titled EP +6, which comprises the previously released EPs titled 4 Satin, Fuck The Curfew, and EP, along with the video for the track Stanley Kubrick.
Mogai will tour the UK for a week in early November. Here are the dates

November
  2 - Bristol (Bristol University)
  3 - Wolverhampton (Wulfrun Hall)
  4 - Leeds (Met University)
  6 - Belfast (Queens/ Belfast Festival)
  7 - Dublin (Olympia)
  8 - Glasgow (Barrowland)
  9 - Liverpool (L2)
10 - London (Brixton Academy)
