Chicago based singer/ songwriter Jen Wood—with two solo albums and past collaborations with Black Heart Procession, Joan Of Arc, Juno, Petra Haden, and others—has finished recording a new solo LP to be titled Traveling Through Roots. It’s due early next year on a not-yet-revealed label.
Now Berlin-based City Slang Records has released, and just for the month of September, the new track Unfinished Work which Wood recorded during her album sessions. Mostly acoustic and completely haunting, you can get the song through the end of the month by free MP3 download from the City Slang site by signing up for their MP3 Club. (The only cost is to provide your email address so they can send you a password.)
Wood’s US label, Tree Records (home for Pinback, Julie Doiron, K, etc.), released this summer the EP Uncontainable Light, her first product in almost two years. Tree Records offers streaming RealAudio for the track Ride from the EP, as well as for the track Imperfect from her self produced debut album No More Wading. | City Slang Records | | Jen Wood on Tree Records | | Jen Wood on Win Records | | top of page |
