New York’s CMJ Music Marathon rescheduled to October
17 September 2001

The largest distributed music festival in the United States, the annual CMJ Music Marathon in New York city, had been scheduled for 13-16 September in venues all over Manhattan and in surrounding areas. It was cancelled on Tuesday when organizers learned of the terrorist attacks against the World Trade Center towers, and has now been rescheduled for 10-13 October with main events to take place at the Hilton Hotel in New York.
The Music Marathon, which serves as a showcase for indie labels from all over the world, each year features well over 1,000 artists—many of whom come from other countries to gain their first US exposure. The festival also features a number of speakers and panel discussions as well as a film festival and special events.
Organizers are scrambling to put a new schedule in place, but the change of plans means that the band lineup and panels are likely to be significantly different. The CMJ Marathon Website provides contact phone numbers and email addresses for participants needing information or to reschedule. |  | | top of page |
