Superchunk play guest-only showcase in NYC
10 September 2001

North Carolina’s Superchunk, who burst onto the US musical landscape eleven years ago with their high energy The Chunk EP and Slack Motherfucker single, recorded a new album this year. It’s their first since 1999’s well received Come Pick Me Up.
Titled Here’s To Shutting Up, the new full length was produced by Brian Paulson (Slint, Wilco)—the first producer to return for a second Superchunk record—and comes out next week for the US and the UK.
Superchunk were last on the road in February with Spoon, and play an invitation-only 'secret' show in New York city this coming Saturday at the Bowery Ballroom. The band will preview the new LP and play some classics. If you’re not on the guest list, you won’t get in, so don’t try.
The band will tour Japan starting on 2 October (their first visit in nearly a decade), then Europe in mid October, and finally North America in late October through late November.
Superchunk released the first EP from the new album three weeks ago. It includes album track Late Century Dream along with non-LP tracks The Length Of Las Ramblas, Becoming A Speck, and Florida’s On Fire (demo version). | Superchunk | | Superchunk on Merge | | bio | | discography | | CD | | top of page |
