King Crimson to offer live double album
15 October 2001
image
Prog rock pioneers King Crimson, who formed in Bournemouth, England in 1969 and have evolved through multiple break-ups and re-formations to become the planet’s senior statesmen of indie experimentalism, release a double-CD live set on 29 October for the UK and on 13 November for the US. Titled Vrooom Vrooom, the collection chronicles their 1996 performances in Mexico city, previously available only by Internet download; and previously unavailable selections from a week-long residency at New York city’s Longacre Theater in November of 1995.
The band at the time consisted of founder and guitarist Robert Fripp along with Adrian Belew, Trey Gunn, Tony Levin, Pat Matelotto, and Bill Bruford. Tracks cover the entire lifetime of King Crimson, going back as far as Red, Lark’s Tongue In Aspic, and 21st Century Schizoid Man—and up to the (then) present with tracks from their aggressive Thrak album.
Vrooom Vrooom appears on Discipline Global Mobile, the artist-centric label formed by Fripp along with David Singleton that is settting a model for fair treatment of musicians: among other provisions, artists signed to DGM retain 100% ownership of their master recordings. | King Crimson on DGM | | CD from Amazon US | | CD from Amazon UK | | discography | | top of page |
