The Jicks, Preston School Of Industry stage North Am tours
11 October 2001

Pavement co-founder, singer, and songwriter Stephen Malkmus, who now heads up The Jicks, starts a second major North American tour for 2001 later this month. The band played a one-off this past weekend in Kalamazoo, Michigan, and begin five weeks of dates on 19 October in Los Angeles. They’re promoting their debut album (titled simply Stephen Malkmus) released this past Februrary world wide.
Also touring North America this fall will be Preston School Of Industry, the other major Pavement spinoff, fronted by Scott Kannberg aka Sprial Stairs. PSOI released their debut All This Sounds Gas in August on UK label Domino.
Both tours are sponsored by the bands’ common US label, Matador—and will cross paths in Chicago, albeit in different venues, on 9 November. The Chicago shows are even arranged early/late so if you’re so inclined you can see both. | tour dates: The Jicks | | tour dates: PSOI | | Stephen Malkmus on Matador | | PSOI | | top of page |
