The BBC posts tracks from The White Stripes Peel Sessions
26 November 2001

Detroit brother-sister duo The White Stripes (Jack and Meg White) have been treading the fine line of indie cred, sticking with Sympathy For The Record Industry in the US and signing onto XL Recordings in the UK earlier this year—then turning down a US$1 million Gap TV ad offer. They’re riding high on their third album, White Blood Cells, released July.
Now the BBC has posted full length streaming RealAudio versions of three songs from a session taped in July: Hotel Yorba, We’re Gonna Be Friends, and Hello Operator. This month the band returned to tape a full Peel Sessions set comprising 13 songs.
New from The White Stripes is a 7"/CD single with the tracks Hotel Yorba and Rated X, both recorded at the actual Hotel Yorba in Detroit according to the band. The CD version includes the Hotel Yorba music video. Released on the 12th in the UK on XL Recordings, the disc will come out soon on Jack White’s own Third Man Recordings for the US.
