Doctors Without Borders starts return to Afghanistan 15 November 2001 International medical aid & human rights organization Doctors Without Borders/Médecins San Frontières on Tuesday started returning international teams to war-ravaged Afghanistan. On 14 September DWB had evacuated 70 staff members out of fear for their safety, although some 400 Afghan DWB employees remained to continue relief work. Doctors Without Borders has been working in Afghanistan continuously since 1979. They also maintain teams in Pakistan, Iran, Turkmenistan, and Tajikistan. The four person team that returned to Kabul on Tuesday are assessing the citys remaining health infrastructure and surveying the urgent health needs of the local population. Just yesterday, DWB health teams returned to Mazar-I-Sharif and to Taloqan. As always, the organization is accepting direct donations through their Website. | Doctors Without Borders | | donate to DWB | | top of page | |
