4 May 2001

French electronic pop trio Grand Tourism released their debut album Le Surboomer in early March for France on Atmosphériques. It now sits within the top 100 in online sales there. On 8 May the set gets released for the US on the CyberOctave label with a different cover and a differnt title, this time just taking the band’s name.
We’ve just heard that the album’s opening track, Jim Clark Theorem, will be used in Novocaine, the upcoming dental/drug murder mystery/comedy featuring Kevin Bacon, Helena Bonham Carter, Steve Martin, and Laura Dern.
In a recent interview in France, the band described their sound as 'festive and visual, at once pop, soul, electronic, and cool jazz' (loosely translated). Reviewers have likened them to a smorgasbord of artists ranging from Beck to Daft Punk to Pet Shop Boys. | Grand Tourism (mostly in English) | | Interview (in French) | | discography | | CD | | top of page |
