Jah Wobble takes Deep Space round the world 4 May 2001 The touring band for Deep Space includes Mark Sanders on drums, Clive Bell on pipes and flutes, Jon-Pierre Rasle on bagpipes and bass crumhornh, Steve Beresford on keyboards and electronics, and Cai Murphy on electronics and mixing. Bassist/producer Bill Laswell joins the band on the 14th in New York, while extraordinary saxaphonist Evan Parker guests on the 15th. The band, along with Parker, also play on the new album Passage To Hadeswhich is credited to Wobble and Parker. The 50 minute/ 4 tracks instrumental set is improvisational, very heavy, and will be equally interesting to fans of free jazz, trance, experimental post-rock, and that awkward catch-all 'world music'; although as an original synthesis, it runs outside the bounds of all of these. The album came out in February for the UK on Wobbles own 30 Hertz Records, and appears in the US later this month distributed by DNA/Blueprint. Well bring you a review soon. This summer 30 Hertz will release a Deep Space live album, with more details forthcoming. Here are the bands upcoming US tour dates May 8 - San Francisco (Great American Music Hall) 9 - Los Angeles (Conga Room) 11 - Chicago (Double Door) 12 - Boston (Axis) 13 - New York city (Knitting Factory) 14 - New York city (Knitting Factory w/ Bill Laswell) 15 - New York city (Knitting Factory w/ Evan Parker) | 30 Hertz Records | | discography | | CD | | top of page | |
