The Clientele announce North Am dates for June

London ’60s-retro art-pop trio The Clientele signed with US indie label Merge Records early this year to release their debut album Suburban Light. Available in the US since April, it includes three tracks unavailable on the British version which was released this past November.
    The album collects work recorded by the band over a span of two years including out-of-print singles, EPs, various-artists contributions, and some previously unreleased songs. The band describe their sound as a pastiche drawing from Felt and Galaxie 500; others have likened them to Arthur Lee’s Love, Lou Reed, and The Beatles. You can get a taste on the Sounds page on their Web site, which offers several minute-long high quality RealAudio clips.
    Having toured the US last spring, The Clientele return Stateside for 10 shows plus two in-store appearances starting 9 June at Maxwell’s in Hoboken. Here are the dates
