Suicide, Alec Empire to play More Than Music Fest
23 May 2001

Next month the More Than Music Fest returns to Columbus, Ohio for four days of music, workshops, discussions, films, and, well, more. The festival’s mission statement reads, in part, “...this time we are casting the net even wider, attempting to reach out across different genres and scenes in order to forge links between them. In doing so we can also finally recognize that many of the same ethics and 'do it yourself' attitudes found in the hardcore scene, for example, are also present in hip-hop, techno, indie, noise, and industrial scenes in different forms. By emphasizing these underlying links, even as we continue to revel in and learn from our differences, we begin to transcend typecasts, stereotypes, and preconceived notions...
“This year’s fest is about transcending the ideas of genres and scenes altogether, replacing them with a more wholistic view of underground culture as a local, regional, national, and global phenomenon whose wide ranging work can have a positive impact on those who take part—and on those who listen. ”
Confirmed bands include DJ? Acucrack, Bride Of No No, Convocation Of, Dead And Gone, Alec Empire, Nic Endo, Gogogo Airheart, High On Fire, I Am Spoonbender, The Lack, The Locust, The Mercury Program, Milemarker, Moss Icon, The Need with Joe Preston, New Terror Class, Archer Prewitt, Q and Not U, The Rapture, RJD2/Soul Position, Six Finger Satellite, Song of Zarathustra, Suicide, Teeth Of The Hydra, The Thrones, and Zero Zero; with more to be announced.
The More Than Music Fest takes place 14-16 June in Columbus, with a films-only day on the 17th. You can order three-day music tickets now from online retailer Insound. | More Than Music fest | | Tickets from Insound | | top of page |
