Denmarks Roskilde Fest announces first artists 8 March 2001 Earlier this week, Roskilde organizers announced the first wave of confirmed artists. They are Briskey (from Norway), Guns N Roses (USA), PJ Harvey (UK), The Hellacopters (Sweden), Karate (USA), Tool (USA), and Wynona (Denmark). Danish police findings announced in December blamed poor sound toward the back of the audience area as the primary cause of the crushing deaths, as tens of thousands of fans tried to move toward the stage. They also blamed a breakdown in the festivals chain of command, leading to a deadly delay in stopping the concert. Organizers say they have fully addressed both issues for the upcoming 2001 festival. As always, all profits from the musical/political event go to humanitarian and cultural charities and projects, with coordination by Foreningen Roskildefonden (The Roskilde Charity Society). Some 15,000 volunteers from the community participate. | Roskilde Festival | | Roskilde March 2001 newsletter | | Roskilde November 2000 newsletter | | top of page | |
