Lloyd Cole returns with new album, US tour
29 March 2001

UK rock balladeer Lloyd Cole, best known for his work with The Commotions in the late ’80s, has been keeping a rather low profile for the past several years. We’re pleased to report that he’s back, with an extraordinary followup to 1995’s Love Story. The new 11-track album The Negatives (also the name of his new band) first appeared in France this past November on Megaworld. It comes out for the US on 3 April on March Records/What Are Records, and we’ll be bringing you a review soon.
Cole and The Negatives (Rafa Maciejak on drums, Dave Derby on bass & backing vocals, Michael Kotch on guitar, and Denver-born singer/songwriter Jill Sobule on guitar & backing vocals) recorded the set through 1998 and 1999. This month they toured nine east coast and midwest US cities, and have at least one more show to go. They’re scheduled for a 13 April performance at The Cellar At Johnny Foley’s in San Francisco. | Lloyd Cole | | bio | | discography | | CD | | top of page |
