Giant Sand’s Howe Gelb has released his third solo album, titled Confluence. Released 20 March for the US on Thrill Jockey, it features appearances by Calexico (Joey Burns and John Convertino, also in Giant Sand), members of Grandaddy, and soundtrack composer and longtime PJ Harvey collaborator John Parrish.
Gelb’s previous solo effort, the 17-track Down Home 2000, is available only online through Giant Sand’s Ow Om Store—which also offers his Europe-only 1999 LP Hisser.
This summer, Gelb will put out an album of ambient piano music titled Lull Some Piano. No further details... but we’ll keep you posted.
Gelb is on tour in the UK with the John Parish Big Band, with a show tonight in Bristol. We expect him to announce a US tour for June. Here are his current tour dates
